Friday Finds ☆ Jakarta Photography Center
I went to look for a camera for my husband. It’s a point and shoot and he has a specific one in mind. I learned about Jakarta Photography Center, so I checked it out. It’s a photographer’s dream shop. At least for those who live in Jakarta. I couldn’t find the camera my husband wanted though. I have researched prices of cameras in Jakarta (I went to Ratu Plaza and Best Electronics Store in Senayan City) and found out that the prices are much higher here than the ones in Japan or U.S. The camera my husband wants is almost the double the price of that you can find in the States if you get it in Jakarta. Crazy…

Thanks for the info, But have you tried other camera shops such as there are several camera shops in Mall Ambasador?
My husband checked with one of the biggest malls for electronic goods in Jakarta (I forgot the name, but the name starts with G and my pembantu even said this place would have the cheapest) and the price was only Rp. 100,000 (about $10) cheaper than what I found at Ratu Plaza. It’s still close to double the price in the States, so I gave up on buying a camera in Jakarta. Sigh. Mall Ambassador is pretty cool though.
You’re right, Kaho. Electronics is quite expensive here. I think with the new custom law started January 1st., it’s probably safer to buy one in Jakarta, unless you want to throw or hide the camera box and make your camera looks has been used for a while..
