Valentine Decoration With A Touch Of Chinese New Year Decor

February 13, 2011

I saw these decoration at two different malls. Don’t you think they did a good job decorating which could be used for Chinese New Year and then used again for the Valentine’s Day?

Valentine’s Day Tea Decoration

I am a member of American Women’s Association (AWA) in Jakarta, Indonesia and all the members of the American Women’s Association (AWA) of Jakarta were invited to the American Ambassador’s House for Valentine’s Day Tea. This is one of the perks about living overseas, especially in a hardship country. You get to do something that you might not have an opportunity in your own country. The house was decorated beautifully with all the Valentine’s decoration. The tea party was lovely.

I learned about American Women’s Association (AWA) of Jakarta way before I even knew that we were assigned to come to Jakarta. I was a member of theAmerican Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA) in Okinawa, Japan and worked as an interpreter for the association. One of my fellow board members with the American Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA) in Okinawa was a former member of the American Women’s Association (AWA) of Jakarta when she lived in Jakarta some time ago. The world is small. It’s interesting that a couple of years after I had met her, I moved to Jakarta with my family and became a member of the American Women’s Association of Jakarta. Alright, I probably wrote too much.

I hope you will have a wonderful Valentine’s Day however you’ll spend the day.

Beautiful! I wonder if the ambassador hired anyone to decorate the place at all? I’m sure it was catered??

Thanks, Yumi! I believe the Ambassador’s wife decorated the space herself. The food might be prepared by the household staff. It was delicious!! :D

Hi Kaho, yes I noticed that too – Chinese NY/Valentines decor! LOL! Which is different for me because Chinese NY is not that big in Manila but so big here right? Usually in Manila it’s all about Valentines.

What a lovely tea party! I hope in the future (say 20-25 years?) we can host our own in The Residence too? Haha!
