Friday Finds ☆ BIRDCAGE Restaurant Cafe & Meeting Manager Andrini

February 24, 2011

I have written about BIRDCAGE restaurant on the second floor here a month ago. I posted another write-up about fashionable BIRDCAGE shop on the first floor a couple of weeks later.

Just to give you a background of my blog, I introduce places I find interesting in Jakarta on my blog solely for my own pleasure and simply because I love doing so just like many other bloggers. If I enjoy some places, I would love for other people to learn about it and thus, I provide some information through my blog. I might not be earning an income by blogging, but I am gaining experiences while it has given me some rare and precious opportunities to meet people in Jakarta. Thus, blogging and introducing my humble discoveries have become my obsessed hobby. Meeting Andrini, the manager of BIRDCAGE, is a good example of an opportunity I gained from blogging along with my photo project with KOI Restaurant.

The manager of BIRDCAGE, Andrini, contacted me as she found my blog article about BIRDCAGE through google search and liked my post. I was flattered that not only did she make efforts to write me an email message, but also she invited me to the restaurant to have lunch with her. As you can see from the photos, she’s beautiful. Even more so in person. Don’t you think she looks like a model? Well, she has a past career as a model as well as a singer. She is quite talented.

I was seated at a table on the first floor for the first time and it was as lovely as the second level. When you sit at the table outside or inside BIRDCAGE on the first floor, all the greens that come into your sight make you forget that you are in the middle of hustle and bustle of Jakarta.

Birdcage restaurant opens from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. They offer breakfast everyday from Monday through Sunday. They also have a High Tea. On Sundays they offer desserts for Rp. 25,000 ($2.5) each for High Tea. On Mondays and Tuesdays, a course dinner with selected appetizer, main dish, dessert and ice tea is available for Rp. 80,000 ($9). For everyday lunch, selected main dish with ice tea is available for Rp. 50,000 ($5.5). This selected lunch set menu is available from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

They also have a Happy Hour from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. (during the week). During the happy hour, they offer buy 1 get 1 free for house pouring by the glass. The last, but not least, attention bikers, if you go there by bike on Sundays and order a dish, you get a glass of ice tea for free. Fun idea, isn’t it?

Just to give you an idea, the following is the breakfast menu.

Coincidentally I found photos taken at Birdcage in a girl’s fashion magazine called Girlfriend sold in Indonesia. I was flipping through a couple of magazines at A TavoLa, one of our favorite restaurants in Jakarta and came across the photos, so I took pictures of some pages. I wasn’t surprised that Birdcage was used in a fashion magazine photo shoot because it is a very photogenic place.

What a neatly decorated restaurant! It offers a range of styles from elegant teapots to bold streaks of French bistro. It looks like a really fun place to dine.

Hi Kaho, wow what a big honor! You have done lovely posts on Birdcage indeed. I have yet to check out the first floor but I heard it is absolutely lovely during the day and now I can see from your gorgeous pictures.

Too bad I wasn’t able to join you for tea yesterday with Jaime but let’s do lunch in Birdcage when I am recovered from my throat infection okay?
