DYRT Jakarta39

It is my pleasure to present DYRT, which stands for Do You Recycle Too? DYRT is a unique shop in Indonesia where you can buy products that you don’t see in other parts of the world. DYRT products are all made with recycled materials such as toothpaste cases which you see on the products made with white and silver woven materials and billboard vinyl which you see in colorful products.

I learned about DYRT when I went to the American Women’s Association bazaar in autumn 2010, soon after I moved to Indonesia. I’ve been wanting to come visit DYRT store in Kemang ever since the store opened above Le Souq in the same center as KOI Kemang.

The concept of DYRT originates from trying to reduce waste. It is not just recycling the materials such as billboard vinyl. The founder of DYRT, Karen Isdaryono, recreate waste into products with a style and trendy look. You can view the collections on DYRT’s homepage.

I think the products from this store make good souvenirs. You can buy one-of-a-kind products to take to your family and friends back home.

DYRTとは、「あなたもリサイクルしてますか?」(Do you recycle Too?)

    Hi Kaho,
Good to see this store on your blog. I love this store soo much and how resourceful to have products from bill board adverts. I like the bright colours and tooth paste tube bags and product range are my favourites. Indonesia is wonderful and very creative people.

    Hi Kaho,
I just wish to thank you for writing so much about Jakarta. I’m heading there in a week and your blog has been really helpful! May I know if you know of any shops that sell tasteful party decor at reasonable prices? Eg. Paper lanterns, buntings, table cloths, doily…
And also any good beauty salons other than the ones you’ve already written about on your blog?
    Thank you so much :)

The party supply store is one area that I don’t know much about. Family Guide to Jakarta might have some good suggestions. http://www.familyguidetojakarta.web.id/
Also, my to go person for a party planning is Ana of Stumble Abroad blog. She’s got a great talent for party planning and lives in Jakarta.

For hair salon, I suggested Nobu, Anna Wijaya, Shunji Matsuo and A Mi Casa. Other than this, you might want to visit The Diplomatic Wife blog. thediplomaticwife.com She might have some other suggestions. Good luck and have a great time in Jakarta!!

Lovely Thoughts
