Prince of Wales Museum in Mumbai ☆ Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum
It has been challenging to do anything online recently as my Mac Book has been slow. It puts me to sleep while I’m waiting for it to work. It’s. That. Slow.
I wanted to get this post out before the weekend starts. Our house guests and my family went to Formerly Prince of Wales Museum, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum also known as CSMVS in January. I challenge you, non-Indians, to be able to pronounce the name for the very first time correctly and without choking.
We all had a great time and I was very very impressed with the museum. It’s a wonderful place to take your kids in Mumbai even little ones and it’s very kid friendly. Museum is located in Kala Ghoda, the area known for arts. It’s a great place to take your out-of-town guests as well.
The building was designed by a Scottish architect, George Wittet, who is known for Indo-Saracenic style. He also designed the Gateway of India, which is another cool place to visit for Mumbai visitors.
I cannot wait to go back to Kala Ghoda again. There are many stores and restaurants that I would like try in the area. On the day we visited, we went to The Table. I believe that it’s one of the best restaurants in town.
As you can see, photography is allowed in Formerly Prince of Wales Museum/CSMVS. It is required to buy a permit at the reception. They cost very little. I bought two permits to take photos. One for my big camera and one for my iPod (I do NOT have an iPhone, so I use my iPod to Instagram.) I loved the museum’s photo permit bands in neon colors!!
